Two concepts of the importance of momentum when building a network marketing business

Two important concepts that you must adopt if you want to build a large and successful network marketing business:

1. Concept #1: It is easier to build a network marketing business quickly than to build it slowly.
2. Concept #2: All network marketing work is built in “momentum” over 90 days.

Let’s explore these two important concepts.

Concept #1: It is easier to build a network marketing business quickly than to build it slowly

The problem with slowness is that you cannot create or maintain any enthusiasm and excitement and without it you cannot achieve any meaningful growth. The most motivated person in your organization is the last new person to join your team. If this guy was a month ago, he’s probably not as excited anymore. Therefore, it takes a steady stream of new distributors to keep a level of excitement driving momentum. This is why it’s easier to build your business fast… Momentum begets momentum!

Three essential elements for building momentum:

1. YOU ARE ALWAYS CREATEING THE MOMENT ON THE “CURRENT STATE” IN THE NETWORK MARKETING BUSINESS! Leading edge means the last person to join your organization because they will always be the most motivated person in your organization. IMPORTANT: This person in Vanguard may have been recently nurtured by you…or…he may be 10-20 levels deep in your organization. No matter where this new person is on the team…they’re “the standout.” Work with them to keep the excitement and momentum going by helping them get off to a positive start which in turn creates a new ‘leading feature’.

2. You cannot create excitement, and therefore momentum, without beating. However, you cannot perform multiplication without addition first. Momentum is relative. First it starts with you! You must first learn how to nurture enough new people in person to create that initial ‘leading edge’. Over time you will find 3-5 others doing the same. The key is to learn to consistently nurture 5 new distributors each month. This will provide the people needed to create excitement which in turn creates the ‘leading edge’ which in turn creates momentum and growth.

3. Create accountability. Once you have 2-4 key people in place, form an “accountability group” where everyone involved commits to a 90-day lightning campaign. Use “accountability” calls where everyone is required to report on their weekly activity. (That’s what makes Weight Watchers work!

Concept #2: All network marketing companies are built in a “momentum state” over a period of 90 days
No one can put in such concentrated mental and physical effort for long periods of time… No one! Here is a mathematical analogy (sorry, ladies). Tiger Woods, perhaps the greatest golfer of all time, doesn’t keep his full focus during his 4-hour, 18-hole round of golf. No he hasn’t… not even when he’s in a major tournament. Once he hits the ball and starts walking to his ball, he puts his mind at ease and won’t go into focus until he’s close again to the ball.

Building a network marketing business should be approached the same way.

Two essential elements to maintaining your mental health:

1. We can all stay focused for a short time, and since we don’t actually work on our business all day every day…we can focus on that time over a longer period of time. So when you’re working, treat your work like a Tiger… really focus… don’t mess around… get to work… take the calls… be intense. “Shut the door…don’t disturb me…take no prisoners” type of focus.

2. Use the “90 Day Law” to build your business. Every successful person will tell you that when they look back on their career, there were different 90-day periods when everything seemed to come together. They sponsored one or two key people who are today key players in their organizations. Every highest earner I know understands the power of having 90-day “windows” for building their network marketing business. Why? Because we can all stay focused for 90 days at a time but not for the entirety of the 18 hole 4 hour round!

After 90 days, we all feel tired, both physically and emotionally. Since the “magic” period in this industry is 90 days… to create a larger check, you can simply do additional 90 day blink campaigns. This doesn’t mean we necessarily see results in that 90 day window…in fact, results probably won’t come until later. But this means that you will lay the foundation…the seeds of success…that will bear fruit later on.

Important: you cannot create “free time” work momentum. You can only create an impetus to work “part-time” or “full-time”… but never in your “free time”.
